Impulse sealers are designed for the more common PE plastic bags. The term impulse means that heat is applied only when the arm is lowered which activates a low voltage across the element causing it to heat up. These units are ready to use as soon as they are plugged in and require no warm up time. The only time power is used is when the arm is pressed down for sealing which means they can be plugged in and ready to use all day on “standby” mode. The standard bag sealing element is 3mm wide ( wider sealing models are available with 5mm and twin element systems ) and is located under a strip of Teflon tape so that it does not adhere to the plastic material. Other films or bags such as BOPP, Foil laminate or PP can be used but these sealers are not suitable for cellophane. ( refer constant heat sealers ). Standard sealing widths are 300mm, 450mm, 600mm & 700mm. Vertical seal models are available. Some other options and features include :-
Tilt head models ( suitable for loose flowing product that is best kept on an angle to avoid spilling during sealing)
Twin seal models ( top and bottom sealing mainly used for thicker bags )
Hot stamp printer for date or batch coding.
Built in sliding cutter models available ( please note that the excess bag cut-off is limited to around 50mm )
