Impulse sealers are designed for the more common PE plastic bags or can be modified to be used on shrinkable polyolefin films. The term impulse means that heat is applied only when the arm is lowered which activates a low voltage across the element causing it to heat up. These units are ready to use as soon as they are plugged in and require no warm up time. The only time power is used is when the arm is pressed down for sealing which means they can be plugged in and ready to use all day on “standby” mode. The standard bag sealing element is 3mm wide and is located under a strip of Teflon tape so that it does not adhere to the plastic material. Other films or bags such as BOPP, Foil laminate or PP can be used but these sealers are not suitable for cellophane. ( refer constant heat sealers ). Standard bag sealers can be supplied in 200mm, 300mm, 400mm and 500mm models with a sliding cutter which can be used to remove excess bag length. The standard sealers can also be modified to be fitted with a round cutting element which trims the bag off at the seal line however this does result in a reduced seal strength. The cutting element fitted sealers can also be used with shrink film such as polyolefin where a seal and cut is required. They can be combined with a film dispenser and a hot air gun to create a low cost shrink wrap system for low volume users.
Larger 600mm and 800mm models are available as is a stainless steel shop sealer which is activated by pressing down on the hand plate. This shop sealer can be mounted vertically and is ideal for use when both hands are needed to hold the bag together during the sealing process.
